You nailed it here, Edg. Good summary.  Those who had a definite life plan, or 
a strong desire to have a specific career, or who really wanted to make it or 
be successful moneywise would never have stayed in the TMO.  The people who 
stuck around or at least gave it a good 10 years in the TMO all went thru some 
version of what you write about. And you had kids and a comfy life in many ways 
- so why rock that boat. From what you write, it sounds as if you really truly 
literally believed those things that were told to you - 5-8 yrs, personality 
transformation etc. That makes it hard.
