Turq - I lin Hillsboro, Oregon. Took a job transfer here 20 years ago and moved from San Mateo, California. Last year, we had a GMO labeling requirement on the ballot. It was Oregon's most expensive election issue EVER. That tells me something. The labeling requirement lost, but they were outspent 3 to 1 by the Frankenfood Companies. Even if GMO food can be shown to be safe, I firmly believe we have an inherent right to know what we are being sold and putting in our bodies. There's nothing in the U.S. Constitution or in the Bill of Rights that says anyone has an inalienable right to have their apples labeled. In fact, the Constitution says every individual has the right of free speech, or not to speak, if they so choose. This applies to commercial speech as well. Most people have no idea what the term "GMO" means, so that's why the courts rejected the proposed law - it doesn't make any sense - just because the Maharishi religion says so. Like, Bhairitu is pointing out a bunch of stores and products now label their products as non GMO anyway. New Seasons and Whole Foods are behind this effort. This is where our dollars go.
