Actually, I can more than afford to be on a similar diet but have never been into the *organic/ natural health food* craze. Organic/*inorganic*, all the same to me. I've always settled for Maharishi's *original* advice on diet," eat what your mother gives you", although that has been severely modified since undergoing gastric by pass. I probably follow closer to a paleo type diet of lean meats, fruits, nuts and vegetables, keeping sugar, grains and dairy to a minimum. If it can pass the FDA system, I'm cool with it. Just don't feed me any dog treats from China! Growing up a fat kid, I never expected to live past 40 and here I am 63 and in pretty good health. Every day is just icing on the cake for me as far as I'm concerned. I'll just keep doing my tapas and being a burden on SS, Medicare and my pension plan for as long as I can. So, it's really funny reading about opposition to a "GMO" apple that doesn't turn brown. I would think that there would be more opposition to the insecticides and antibiotics contained on and in non-organic foods such as beef and chicken. So, maybe somebody could fill me in on the sources of the food they eat. Thanks. I know a guy that drives all the way across town just so he can buy a bag of unsulphured raisins. I live two blocks from Whole Foods and even that is a long walk. You can imagine how much destruction to the environment there is if thousands of cars are driven to the farmer's market every day just to check the labels on apples. It just doesn't make any sense.
