What on earth makes you think he's disparaging *you*? As I understand him, the reference was to St. Paul of the Christian Scriptures (previously known as Saul) having a vision of the risen Christ at Damascus, as Jim had a vision of Guru Dev. I could be wrong, but I don't think it had anything to do with you. That the name is the same was coincidental. I don't believe you've ever said you had a vision of Guru Dev, have you?
