Individual weather events neither prove nor disprove theories about climate
change. According to what I've read, a climate influence would be
scientifically detectable, not just an anecdote.

Repeat after me: "no individual storm is causally attributable to a changing
climate."

The key words, Mike, are "like Matthew"--i.e., particularly violent
hurricanes. Global warming (as you know) is said to result in more and bigger,
stronger storms. The Paris agreement may not stop such storms entirely, but it
could well reduce their number and/or their strength.

The point is that the Paris agreement will not stop hurricanes. They've always
existed and always will.
