Dude...watch your step! You have just uttered the Ultimate Heresy. OF COURSE the reason that people feel a "high" from doing their TM-Sidhi program together is because they're doing that particular TM (insert TM trademark sign here) technique together. It couldn't *possibly* have anything to do with what the rest of the spiritual world thinks is happening in such a situation -- a group of people getting together to practice pretty much ANY technique of meditation/self discovery and getting a buzz from the increased number of practitioners. :-) > In going or joining at that level it becomes sort of a > holding of the nose or going with blinders set > to not let themselves be bothered by it so much. LOL. That image got me laughing. Remember when the TM sidhis were new and people started trying to market things to all these new buttbouncers? There were the foam pads that strapped to your butt so you could bounce anywhere, and special buttbouncing fashions. Well, the next level of marketing will include the Sattvic Nose Clamp (to keep out the bad odor of the TMO while buttbouncing), and the Bliss Blinders (to keep you from noticing that you're buttbouncing in the same room with people you'd be embarrassed to be seen with back in real life. :-) > However what you are saying evidently has a lot of merit > in the whole story of how it has gone here in FF for MMY > and the TMorg. What is the number, 27K governors or > tm-sidhas were taught? About a million TM meditators > taught in North America? Now only some few hundreds > rally at the call to come back? I think that's why it's so timely that geezerfreak reposted that excerpt from The Guru Papers. It says it all. There is an "expansion" phase of spiritual groups. Those who are attracted to the group during that phase have a predilection that drives them to help to teach the group's techniques to others, to *share* the good things that they've learned. Then the inevitable "contraction" phase of the group begins to happen, in which the group basically stops expanding and spends all its energy trying to convince the remaining members how special they are and how dangerous the outside world is. This second phase is all about *hoarding* the good things they've learned, not sharing them. The people who are drawn to a spiritual group that has entered this phase are NOT the same ones who were drawn to it during its expansion phase. The contraction phase appeals to those who have grown tired (of lecturing and postering and dealing with "lesser evolved" people by teaching), and/or who have developed a slightly paranoid fear of the "outside world" and desire to live in a sheltered space surrounded only by people who think the same way they do, and/or people who have bought into the the group's "You are the chosen people" elitism propaganda. What I'm suggesting is that it's completely NATURAL that the folks who were attracted to the early days of the TMO (during its expansion phase) would be completely turned off by its constraction phase. They were drawn to a movement that wanted to help the world as a whole, and now they are confronted by a movement that only wants to help itself, and those "chosen people" that still cling to it. > Maharishi wants input as to why the troubles getting people > to come back to the domes? As I pointed out earlier, they posted a link to a website that had that title (something like "Haharishi wants your feedback") but did not allow those who went there to *provide* any feedback. Feedback is not WANTED during the contraction phase of a spiritual movement. It is fed only by FEAR -- fear of losing the support of the donors who give money to it, fear of losing its followers, fear of the outside world, etc. They don't WANT any feedback other than that fear. In my opinion, of course... To subscribe, send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Or go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/ and click 'Join This Group!' Yahoo!
