Assume that were true. Now consider two situations:

1. The "crow" mocks TM in front of one TMer and that
person becomes offended and angry, gets all defensive,
makes 10 posts to the Internet "defending" TM and
attacking the crow, and has to take three Pepcids
before he can digest his lunch. If he's like some
people on this forum, he stays angry for days, and
possibly weeks.

2. The "crow" mocks TM in front of a second TMer and
this second person either ignores the crow and goes on
with enjoying his day or laughs and goes on with
enjoying his day. The incident is forgotten at once.

Both of the TMers in these scenarios believe strongly
in TM and its benefits. Both think TM is a good thing.
But only one of them thinks like and acts like a cultist.

IMO, the difference is all about *identification*.

The cultist in scenario 1 is *weak*, and is not com-
fortable being his self (much less his Self) without
identifying with a group. So when someone laughs at
his group, *because he has no identity of his own*,
the cultist in scenario 1 gets all uptight and
overreacts and loses it.

The TMer in scenario 2 is comfortable being himself
and believing what he believes. What anyone else
believes doesn't affect him at all. So what's to
get all offended about?
