The last time this nonsense about the car manufacturers and the oil
companies being in collusion came out -- in the '70s -- it was said
that they were conspiring to make cars that unnecessarily consumed
alot of gasoline so that the oil companies could make more money.

Well, what a grand conspiracy that must have been!

It almost ended up bankrupting the U.S. car manufacturers because,
come the oil crisis of the '70s, the smaller more efficient Japanese
car manufacturers almost took over the business.

I haven't seen this movie so I can't really comment on it but I
suspect that there are reasons other than conspiracy for why the
electric car was "killed".

"always"?

The EPA was created under the Nixon Administration for God's sakes!

Well, that's funny because when I first moved to the Phoenix,
Arizona area -- also in '94 there were quite a few homes in my
neighbourhood with solar panels. Well, the price of energy has gone
up quite a bit since then and virtually every single panel has
disappeared!

I don't see them in Phoenix anywhere anymore.

Was that a conspiracy, too?

If there is a market for electric cars, I can assure you that the
car manufacturers will be the first ones through the door eager and
willing to sell them to you.
