And you don't think the Sanhedrin had much influence over the Jewish people, right? In any case, we were talking about Jewish Law, which was interpreted and implemented by the Sanhedrin, so you're making a spurious distinction in any cas. Christ corrected the Sanhedrin and showed them > the err of their ways often which really pissed them off, > so much so, they had to arrest him and put him on trial > in the middle of the night on Passover to avoid a riot > since Jesus had been given such a great welcome by the > people on his arrival in Jerusalem. Or at least, that's how the Gospels have been redacted to read. For an alternate view, you might want to have a look at "The Myth-Maker: Paul and the Invention of Christianity" by Hyam Maccoby, a Talmudic scholar. Eye-opening. (Say, why didn't all those intelligent Jews who thought Jesus was Messiah not riot when he was crucified? And why did they choose Barrabas over Jesus to be released?) > If I indicted any stupidity it was on the part > of the Sanhedrin, not the Jewish people as you > have tried twist and turn my comment to mean. Uh-huh. All the Jews recognized that Jesus was Messiah, leaving the poor benighted Sanhedrin twiddling its thumbs. That's why there aren't any more Jews left today, they were all smart enough to convert to the Jesus movement. Right? (You know why most Jews did not and do not believe Jesus was Messiah, don't you?)
