There definitely was. WHile I never head of anyone actually getting kicked out for lack of funds, every few months I would get phone calls or letters from some friends on both Purusha or MD to make a "donation."
What was fun and exciting when we were 18 and 20
I can't imagine hitting up your friends for $$, especially repeatedly, falls under almost anybody's definition of "fun."
