In the past I've done clean installs that I then drop the dev site and database over the top. That made sure that the cf config for farcry and the project was all working correctly, so it was just a matter of debugging any problems that might have occurred in the transfer from system to system. However, I've got so used to setting up farcry and farcry projects I usually just copy the database and project across to the live server and set up with that rather than over the top of an install.
