It is only there for dynamic items (such as dmNews, dmLinks, dmFacts - and soon to be dmEvents - and any other dynamic content you might create and add in to FarCry). It is not used for dmHTML (which is the main content on the site). However, I can see where it may be useful to categorise dmHTML objects (it's still just content and might be useful in building a search engine that can restrict to 'category').

No reason. Just haven't added a categorisation step to the HTML obj wizard. Categorisation is a subsystem that can be applied to basically any FourQ COAPI based object.
