Jeff,
Well done, narration was easy to follow and while we are ahead of where these videos primarily focus on... it was very interesting to watch you walk through the installation and sample content with such ease! Please continue to make more of these, this is absolutely great!
I am so happy to hear that. I was afraid these would be a waste of time :).
BTW, what software did you use to record your screen and narrate with?
I used Windows XP, Windows Media Encoder, Media Player 9.1 codecs (awesome compression), Adobe Photoshop CS, and Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. And the hardware: headphones with a microphone and my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9100 3.2Mhz, 1GB ram, ATI 9700 video card with 128MB ram). Hardware does not need to be powerful, however Windows settings need to be adjusted (lowered) otherwise lag shows in the video (also the fps need to be dropped for slower machines). I chose 10fps because they seem to still keep the screen smooth enough and keep the filesize small.
The adobe products are expensive, but offer great tools for editing. If you have a low budget there are some great open source tools out there as well, but require more knowledge of codecs and take more time and hdd space to use (average 2GB per 8min movie while editing them uncompressed).
btw: Do people think 1024x768 resolution would be better? I only ask because the Farcry administrator uses horizontal menu tabs which require a lot of width.
