I've been doing all of the stuff in Jeff's videos for over 18 months now - but was pleasantly revitalised by his presentation. It confirmed to me again why I committed ABN AMRO Morgans to using FarCry as their CMS.
Thanks Gary. You know its funny. Just before reading your message I was searching through the mailing list archives and came across one of your first posts about 18 months ago.
------------ Where to next?? (2003-04-16)
OK....
I have Far Cry installed.
I have it all running fine on CFMX webserver.
Admin works.
I get to the front page of the site.
All the admin stuff looks kewl (adding pages and tree nodes and stuff like that all with wizards).
What do I do next? --------
and ...
-------- Maybe I am being naieve here and it should be obvious. I suppose I am looking for a "So you have Far Cry installed and you want to get some structure and content happening" tutorial. --------
I see comments like these throughout the mailing list archive over and over. I really do hope these tutorials become useful. I'll be happy to make more (when my wife allows me the time :) ). I already have some drawn out on paper.
Perhaps other people wouldn't mind making some as well. Or if someone is interested they can offer voice over-dubs to the videos in other languages (in about a month the Farcry build 2.3 with i18n support will be introduced and it should only be fair to offer the videos in other languages as well). I did take Russian for a few years in college, but my Russian is so poor I'd probably scare off any possible newcomers to Farcry :).
