great videos jeff :)
any kind of tentative schedule on release of some more vids?
Thanks. I've already started work on a couple more. I caught a little cold over the weekend and wont be able to record for a few days :). I plan to have at least another one or two videos in a week.
Although I try to make the videos seem as easy as possible they actually take a lot of time and work. First I draw out a plan, then do a couple run-throughs. Next I setup the database and files. After that I take several takes of recording (many times I have to restore the database to a previous state before recording again). Because scripting sounds too robotic I make up the narration as I go (so each take has a different script, even the typing is made up on the fly). Then post production takes place where editing the video takes up quite a bit of time. In the end I try to end up with a short and concise video that gets to the point. So as much as I'd like them to be, I can't always complete these overnight (although I could if someone offers to pay me :).
btw: I could use some testers for future tutorials. Someone to take a look at a video for errors and stuff before the final release. If interested please email me.
Also, lets not dismiss the existing tutorials on the Farcry website. They are still great material (thats how I started out). The members of the Daemon team who make them put a lot of time and effort into their work and I for one really appreciate it and can't want for more.
