I agree it would give it a small boost and there are probably other things that
can be worked on first that might give a much larger performance boosts (I am
not sure what these might be as I am still adapting to FarCry).

An additional benefit would be that instead of links that are like this:
http://www.mysite.com/mysite/index.cfm?objectid=BFB413E3-2B3D-C43D-2F31068032A5F508

we could have:
http://www.mysite.com/mysite/index.cfm?objectid=10

It makes it easier for users to type the URL in the event that they have to.

Either way, Thanks for all the insight as to the logic behind the design Geoff.
I am just one of those people that really like to know how something works and
why.

Ok. I can see the benefits to have the unique id and I knew the
definition about it. But, one thing I always wondered was about
performance. Does anyone tried to use simple numeric indexes and
compare to the UUID that Farcry have? Specially in a have load site
with a large amount of content....

The performance difference between numeric and UUID indices is negligible compared to other issues. Any complex dynamically built CMS has performance issues -- you need to apply caching strategically.

However, any suggestions for performance increases are always gratefully recieved -- please lodge them here http://bugs.farcrycms.org/

There are lots of reasons for UUIDs. Not least they work the same across all supported databases, you can have mixed object type references in the same array property, you can archive content centrally and so on.
