Not a fan of the Islays. I prefer less peat, but occasionally find a really, really nice one. The Caol Ila for example, I have a nice cask strength distiller's edition that I picked up at the Bladnoch distillery. The Bladnochs were excellent. I'm more a fan of Scapa 16yo (On Orkney, at the other end from Highland Park), or the Glengoyne 17yo. Those are the two off the top of my head, I'm in California at the moment, so don't have access to my whiskey assortment. If anyone has had a whiskey and thought *gag*, you were probably handed something with a high peat index. Try to find one from the other end of the scale, low peat indexes are generally more accessible, and you can work your way up to your tolerance/comfort level. rip
