Since last year I haven't made any book recommendations here since this
is a Feist mailing list (Goodreads.com is the place for that) BUT I'm
going to weight in and agree with Mat!
Lani you must continue Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen! I
know Deadhouse Gates is so very dark (most people have the same reaction
to DG and get hung up there), and I'm not saying that's going to go
away, but the series does get better, funnier and (unlike some series
I've read) there is a moral to the story! Memories in Ice, book three,
has WhiskyJack, Fiddler and Quick Ben that all come back!
There are several characters that are "Nakor" like.... Kruppe, Pust,
Shadowthrone, Tehol and Bugg, in later books there is Sgt Hellian who is
friggin hilarious, plus the Malazan military humor is very realistically
funny!
Truly the most amazing set of books I've ever read, leaves you forever
changed!

You MUST keepin going.. the series just gets better and better and
better and better and... better!
Memories of Ice is the next one in the series and is one of the best of
them all! PS Nakor type character = Quick Ben just give it some time!

WOW, Thanks so much for all of the reviews you guys..........
I was put onto Stephen Erikson, his 1st book was fab but the Deadhouse
Gates im trying to get through its soooooooo dark. Too dark for my
liking, he needs a Nakor type Character. At least Ray always had nice
comic relief somewhere in his books and i dont think i can carry on with
Stephen Erikson.
My brother has also read all of Terry Pratchett but i watched a DVD of
it and didnt really like it.
I will however try this Jim Butcher though :=).
(So much for me studying next year, i think i maybe reading for leisure
instead) Lani
