If you like science fiction, I can highly recommend 'The Lost Fleet' series by Jack Campbell, or the 'Horus Heresy' by various authors. The 'Horus Heresy' is part of the Warhammer 40K universe, but don't let that put you off, as they're very well written, and I couldn't put them down! I'm on book 19 at the moment, and there's at least another 6! If you've not read it already, you could try 'The Death Gate Cycle' or 'Dragonlance Chronicles' by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman? They're not new books, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of them, and my father loved 'The Death Gate Cycle', and he's a very hard man to please where books are concerned! Also, if you like genres to be slightly mixed, try 'The Keltiad' by Patricia Kennealy-Morrison, its a blend of science fiction, Celtic mythology and the legends of King Arthur. There's 9 or 10 books in the series, and they're all awesome! Think they're also out of print, and have been for a while, so trawling secondhand book shops and certain Internet retailers/auction sites will come up trumps!
