Not everyone is interested enough to bother getting a google account, and you can't register without one AFAIK. SF's Mailman system doesn't require any accounts on anything, that's pretty much a reasonable requirement for mail. Yeah, we can expect developers to make an extra effort, but not the public. And maybe not even developers. For example our Debian Developer Mike Furr. He's gone an extra mile, since he's also the package maintainer AND a registered Felix developer. But he looks after other projects too. Let's face it, RF complained that he had to register THREE aliases on SF.. now you want him to register for duplicate lists as well, and get 6 copies of each email? I already get two copies of everything because stupid email clients have 'replyto' and 'replytoall' but don't have the button I really want 'replytolist'.
