I've used darcs for a couple of my own small projects and I really
like it.  It looks to have all the features needed to do things like
mailing list integration (though I've never used them myself).  I
chose it because I'm often without a net connection (e.g. laptop)...
not having to have a central repo is a big help!

However Darcs has a dark side... I've never encountered it, but
there's a subtle bug regarding repos with lots of conflicts that shows
up from time to time that can crash Darcs [1].  The current advice is
"be careful" (i.e. avoid lots of conflicts) until the developers can
come up with a solution.

A possible alternative is Mercurial [2] which (although it doesn't
have a "theory of patches" behind it) has many of the same features as
Darcs and is faster in some instances.  It's written in Python.  I've
never used it myself so I can't vouch for it though.
