I will check with the vet next week about the dose when I see him and they test Bogie¹s blood. Yes and the Pred. My cat was pretty high functioning to be so sick. Eating, although less, playing and wrestling with his big brother (A Pomeranian pup) once in awhile. Maybe that made a difference in his mind.
Thanks for the prayers. I think some have been answered by finding this Vet and this forum. I do my share of hovering as well. When she is sleeping I will sometimes tip toe over to check her breathing and she opens an eye as if to say ³Now what?². She is sitting in a window right now, staring at the two bunnies under the bird feeder. I am sure she is wishing she was out there with them. She wants to play still. She will chase the dog from time to time and I am wondering if I should be keeping her in a room by herself so that she rests all day. Do you have an opinion about that? I found Bogie under the deck at a golf course where I play. It took a couple of months to get her to get close enough that I could pick her up. That night, it got below freezing here for the first time last year. What good fortune for her and for us. Thanks for all the valuable information. I am wondering about the dose though. I had Zander on 1 mg two times a day. However, I boosted him up to 2 mg two times a day for a few days at the outset to get things working faster. Also, do you also have Bogie on the prednisone at the same time? Hang on it is a slow, slow process. I had to hand feed Zander and I hovered over him for months before I felt like he was out of the woods. There were good days and bad days. I really really pray you get some good results. I feel lucky to have found him. Especially after reading about Amani¹s cats response. After Bogie¹s first dose yesterday, I actually saw her perk up a little. She has been a good eater through all of this anyway and that didn¹t change at all. Dr says she must have adapted to living with a lower red count to still be playing some and eating at this level. (15) She did a couple of things last night that she hadn¹t done in several weeks. Ran after the dog, tried to scare me when I walked by. Made me feel a little relief. Today after the second doseshe is very lackluster. Still eating well but sleeping a lot and not wanting the attention of anybody. She had problems getting up to the first tier of her condo which has never happened before that I have seen. Pale gums. It is a day to day challenge for both her and I. Trying to stay positive about this drug and am embarrassed somewhat that I was hoping for very ³fast² results. I just want so badly for her to have more time with us. She goes in for a baseline blood test with this new vet next week. He said not to expect dramatic effects at that time but even some movement on the uptick is a good sign. I thought I would keep you all posted about how the drug is affecting my baby¹s anemia as we go along. Good luck and best wishes to all on this board and their furry children. This is very heartening to me.
