Well, I think one of the goals in dealing with ringworm (at least for me) is to dry the area out - I've never been too much into systemic stuff for ringworm when you can put something directly on the ringworm.

I don't know what the medication was, but my friend was given oral medication to treat her cat for ringworm (got it from her roommate's rabbit and all the girls in the house and all the pets got it).  The vet apparently gave her too much for the cat because it killed him!  After the first dose he got very sick.  Back at the vet, she (the vet) looked at the medication again and realized what she had done.  It was too late though and he lingered for a few days and then died.  I think it was kidney or liver failure.

My friend LOVED this cat and hasn't been able to have a black cat since then b/c it hurts too much.  So be careful of what you give them.  That just taught me that people tend to be passive about medications and the possible side-effects.  This was a routine problem treated with routine meds and it killed the patient.  That's why for ringworm I am a big advocate of using topical stuff first and not giving the medication unless absolutely necessary.
