And it depends on the fungus strain they were exposed to.  We had one foster house 
have an outbreak and it cleared up quickly and easily w/ the Monistat and diluted 
bleach solution.  Another foster home had an outbreak at the same time, and even w/ 
oral meds, injections and 3x per day topical treatment, it kept spreading.  On some 
cats, it would appear to have gone away and then come right back.  To put it in 
perspective, in that home it was 2 mom cats and their babies.  It happened when the 
kittens were still nursing and not ONE of them was adopted until the kittens were 4 
months old.  That is how long it took to clear it up and be sure that it was really 
gone.  Now they all have homes, including the mothers, but what a nightmare for the 
foster parents!  They also have 5 of their own cats and all of them got it and so did 
the humans.  Matt had two spots on his face and Diane's hands were covered.  Luck of 
the draw I guess :)
