Why?

Preventively try running 'instant-clean' script. Then check whether
directories specified in INSTANT_CACHE_DIR and INSTANT_ERROR_DIR
environment variables exist and are writable.

What does it do with INSTANT_CALL_METHOD='SUBPROCESS','OS_SYSTEM' or
'COMMANDS' (without any modification). Also what about
INSTANT_CALL_METHOD='COMMANDS' with the following patch?

We are getting there...but,

The Poisson example requires UMFPack to be installed with dolfin. Itried two versions, 4.2 and 4.4, pointed to the include dir and libraryin the ccmake interface, but it seems not to find it.

Does dolfin depend on a specific version of UMFPack? Or are there anyother dependencies that have to be set for dolfin to work with UMFPack?
