>From an occasional reader perspective of the FHS (for the projects I develop) I'd find more convenient to have everything related to a path in a single place, and not to have to jump around to find a Linux annex, a Hurd annex, even a BSD annex. I think that these notices are rare so can find easily their place under the directory concerned, instead of being moved at the end of the document, where someone may well forget that there is something to look at.
