OK--so I've been spending my time making giant puppets to scare small children at our Jr. Museum's Halloween Howl ;-)
But after most happily making a shirt from my spindle-spun cotton (commercial warp, the cotton single for weft) I still had quite a bit of cotton left. This is home grown stuff in two shades of brown and green. So I plied it and sized it and am using it mixed with commercial for warp for another shirt. The commercial is on shafts 1 and 2 and the homespun on 3 and 4 and I'm treadling it so I get handspun floats. I just finished threading it over the weekend so I could finally weave it and see how it works (sample???). It looks very good--very textured. The warp is about 2/3 millspun (in natural) and 1/3 handspun in colors, and the weft is the millspun, but the cloth still has a very handspun appearance. I'm pleased with it. I also have some singles wool from my now-ancient pet sheep Vincent (yes, Ron, the Famous one-eared Vincent Lamb Gogh still graces my life) that I've dyed with home-grown indigo and that will be the next shirt.
