Any dollmakers out there who can tell me an easy way to sew yarn on a
head for hair? I'm going to comb some wool to spin, and give it lots of
twist so it can stand up to being sewn through the head and then handled
a lot.

Well, I'm not a dollmaker, but I once made a doll with uncarded wool -- just the locks -- for hair. It looked great (still does as a matter of fact!). I just washed the locks and felted them a little in one end so I could sew them to the dolls head. I used both indigo coloured wool and natural, so my little doll ended up a bit of a punk rocker :)! It might not be what you're looking for, though...
