True, true about the barn mittens - I knit mine from our angora and romney blended and two plied and they are warmer than toast. I have tried so many different kinds of gloves for the winter sheep chores and I keep coming back to the good old mittens. I have thermofilled gloves, water proofed gloves and lined leather work gloves all stacked up on the radiator - but the ones that live in my barn coat pockets are the ratty felted wool/angora ones. Yeah, they do get wet and they do attract hay and dirt. But I leave them on the radiator overnight and the dirt shakes off in the AM. And besides, I can catch snowflakes on them .....try that on nylon - it just isn't the same. Julie - still frozen here in NJ but mud is on the way!
