I often get the same type of exzema on my hands as described by Lauren. I tried steroid creams but it did absolutely nothing for the horrible itching or the inflammation. I tried lots of remedies and lotions, and the only thing that does any good is lanolin! It's like a miracle...stops the itching and heals it right up. If I feel the itching starting (the first sign that a flare-up is about to occur), I put lanolin on the spot and it often never progresses to the wrinkled skin/blister stage. If it does progress, the bout lasts for a week or two instead of months. What I buy is called "Lansinoh", pure lanolin made for breastfeeding mothers. Putting my hands in a nice greasy fleece doesn't work, I tried.
