Are you looking only at new looms or are used a possibility? Out of
the list I have experience with Schacht and Leclerc. Schacht are
very easy to work with. Leclerc are too but the old ones had a messy
tie up which drives me nuts. I have never seen any of the newer
ones. Many models of Leclerc's are very sturdy and beat nice and
tight. At least one model does not.
I have 6 looms in my studio and my favorite for production yardage
are my 3 Macombers. They give me the best and tightest beat and are
least hard on my back. I can weave all day on them. One thing that
doesn't get mentioned much is where the treadle is hinged. Macs are
hinged in the back so your foot just drops straight down on the
front. Many looms are hinged in the front and you sit with your foot
back on the treadle. This is a back breaker as the leverage is your
lower back not your thigh. I have been know in my grad school days
in San Francisco to weave up to 20 yards of silk fabric a day. I
could do that on a Mac but not anything else.
My opinion,
