OOOH! FUN! I'd love a new loom, but will have to put up with the old
one for awhile yet. I sure wouldn't pass up the Louet just because of
the texsolv! My newest loom has been converted to texsolv and I like
it. It does make the loom very quiet. The metal heddles on my old loom
were easier to thread, since they scoot along the shaft so easily, but
all that metal and wood adds to the weight. Louet is the only
countermarche on your list, and the only loom with rear hinged
treadles. I'm 54, and gave up my old trusty Gilmore (imho the best
push-up jack on the market) 2 years ago because it was becoming so hard
to lift the shafts...front hinged treadles and a jack loom. With a
jack, the shafts are lifted only with your leg power. With a CB or CM,
the loom mechanics does most of the work for you! From the list you
gave, I'd sure pick a countermarche with rear hinged treadles, and
that's the Louet. Another feature I will require in my next loom is an
overhead beater, but none of your choices (except the LeClerc Colonial)
have that option. I have my eye on the Woolhouse Kirsten, personally.
But the Louet is very well designed.
