Sometimes...but unless you've got Synthrapol in the wash water, you're 
taking the chance that your white or light colored yarns will absorb 
that bleed.

I have constant problems with white wool turtlenecks - if I forget 
them in the bathtub, they invariably brush against the dark ones 
and pick up just enough discoloration to be really annoying.
