I do this quite often. Currently, I am spindling angora/alpaca/angelina
roving and crocheting the yarn off the spindle as it fills.
I just finished an alpaca shawl. The yarn was spun directly from the
sheared fleece/locks. I wound the yarn off the spinning wheel bobbins on
to toilet paper core "bobbins" to 2-ply it then crocheted from the tp
bobbins. The shawl is now soaking in hot water/hair shampoo. My, it was
dirty!
