I did mine as a tube, so much faster to knit that way. But after felting, the two ends are super wavy, while the middle is much tighter.

Hi Holly -

If you decide to do this again, I would recommend you insert a length of cloth in the tube to prevent the sides felting together. Make it the width of the flattened tube and a little longer. Then, sew the ends of the cloth together so it forms a circle. Next, using cotton yarn, sew the tube together at the ends to form a doughnut...... the ends will be sewn in a circle, not flattened.

Now when you felt it, it won't know which end is up and should felt evenly. The cotton used for sewing the ends should pull out easily, use a bright color to make it easy to find. The cloth inside should have kept the sides from felting together...... you can tack the edges of this down to make sure it stays in place.

Hope this helps.

Good luck,
Robin
