Tea and coffee both give nice browns.  You can use old grounds/leaves, 
you don't have to use fresh.  And the mordant is included in the form of 
tannic acid.  Be sure to leave the tea in the bags, and if using coffee, 
put it into a bag, otherwise you'll be picking crud out of the wool for 
a LONG time.  Don't ask me how I know this <G>
