Wow - putting away clothes for the winter is almost a foreign concept
for me. When I lived on the San Francisco peninsula we practically had
a mono-climate. I'm now 50 miles east of SF, but still have "mild"
winters - no snow. I did buy myself two new alpaca sweaters and two
new alpaca jackets from our co-op. I also splurged on alpaca pants and
a skirt. I couldn't pass up the opportunity on the sale price. My
socks are still holding out just fine and I've been knitting my own
from our animals. I have happily spoiled feet.
I have a renaissance faire next month that my spinning wheel and I will
be demo-ing at. I haven't worn any of my faire costumes in seven
years. I was six sizes larger then and wore them for four months worth
of weekends out of the year. I need to pull them out and see what is
salvageable from six years of use. I really don't want to sew a new
bodice. I suppose there is an advantage in getting smaller - "you can
always take it in, but you can't make it bigger..."
I've got some custom spinning/weaving commissioned pieces to make
before December. I didn't think that would be a problem until I
dislocated my thumb and tore ligaments this past Sunday coming home
from an alpaca show. Argh!! The show went great though. In the Fiber
Arts and Skeins competition, I entered 12 items - came home with eleven
1st Place ribbons and one 2nd. Our fleece came home with a 2nd and
3rd. And we've got reservations for stud service. Yay! A productive
weekend indeed!

Ob fiber: I'm about to wear my wool jersey for the first
time this year. Considered mending my linen bike knickers
before washing them and putting them away for the winter;
after examining them, I put them in the laundry room and put "make new
knickers" on my to-do list. (I've already bought the canvas.) (But I
may buy twill and make a handbag and wallet out of the canvas.)
<snip>
Later: rolled out wearing long pants, a silk T-neck, short-sleeved
wool jersey, and a long-sleeved zip-front jersey -- about halfway to
the corner, I remembered that there are *gloves* to go with this
outfit. Much to my surprise, they were in the pocket of my jacket,
where I'd put them last spring. I know where my overmittens and my
balaclava are, too!
