Right before I moved last October, I read on another list how one person
uses a diz to remove the wool from her carder. I barely had a chance to try
it before I had to pack up my drum carder. I have yet to unpack it, as
things like dishes and clothes are a tad more important than fiber (but not
that much more important, ha ha).

I remember that you should start at one end of the carder and pull through
the diz, moving it closer and farther away from the carder to maintain an
even thickness of fiber. My first couple attempts were awful, but the
original poster assured me that a smooth roving could be made with practice.
