Hi, Holly.

I'm so jealous. I haven't been able to set up my loom in 9 years since I moved out to the farm. This summer I plan to get her up and running again. All your projects sound great.

I've been reading your combing issues. I taught myself combing from Peter Teal's book also. I finally remember what I did with my newly oiled wool: I put in it a stainless steel bowl in a 150 degree F oven for about 20 minutes. It really helped the wool absorb the oil and made my combing easier. I use Indigo Hound's 5-pitch English Combs. I have tried the same oil-and-cook method with drum carding, too, and it helped with avoiding nepps on some really fine corriedale I was having issues with.

So currently, I'm coming to the tail end of spinning a pound of singles of some wool roving that I dyed. I'm planning on 3-plying it as soon as I modify my lazy kate to accept my WooLee Winder bobbins. I've been using a shoe box with knitting needles for 2-ply stuff, but my feet are too small for the box to fit 3 bobbins.

Otherwise, I'm finishing up my last UFO. It's one of the Prisilla Gibson-Roberts wimples from Knitting in America. I'm about 1/4 of the way through the lace edging around the bottom. I really am beginning to hate this thing.

Next up is blending some white wool with some grey wool and spinning it up to use as the main color in a fair-isle yoked sweater, I think. I have 4 pounds of dye and 5 pounds of acid crystals coming from Prochemical. There may be a dyeing frenzy in my future. Summer's here.

Not so much gardening that you can't enjoy fiber work, I hope! :)

I'm still working on the towels on the AVL--

Got an overshot table runner on the Schacht

Spinning a boucle yarn for the spinning guild's project

Haven't yet gotten back to the oily combing :)

And I've taken some 3 ply light sport weight yarn I spun from rainbow dyed Merino top in fall colors and begun working with it again.

And I bought a lovely spindle at the Spring Fiber Fling, and a beautiful skein of sock yarn from Trekking--4 plies, each variegated lovely oranges :)
