I gave a shortened version of my answer yesterday:
My Student cards were purchased at Halcyon Yarns in Maine and have
curved paddles. Totally agree that curved backs are much easier to
use. They are comfortable in my hands no matter how long I work. The
sides of the handles can be sanded down for a custom fit. I'm not one
that keeps each paddle in the same hand - I switch as the fiber
transfers to the moving card.

The round, straight handles of the brands with round handles also
tend to rotate slightly while in work and the flat plane of the 1-
piece cards integral handles gives me total control. This way the pin
cloth stays perfectly aligned and don't tend to connect more with one
edge/side than the other if they rotate even a bit.

And I want only 1-piece, integral paddle backs. No separation issues.
