I'm wrapping up my Master's thesis and haven't done much knitting or
spinning since last November! Argh. I'm going to a 2-day spinning
workshop at the Estes Park Wool Market and I am really excited. I need
to buy hand carders and want to get something that I will use a lot. Any
recommendations for a good starter pair?
Also, a new fiber shop opened up in a small town near where I live. They
sponsor a few local fibers - pygora (oh so soft!), llama, alpaca and
corriedale. The corriedale was oily feeling. I liked the feeling, but I
am not used to it. The shop also sells some beautiful handmade wooden
spindles. I picked one up that had some fiber already started on it and
lost myself for 5 minutes.
Hmmm, maybe some day I will have my own goats. I am intrigued by angoras
and pygoras. And alpacas for that matter. I wonder if any of these are
suited for the shortgrass prairie of eastern Colorado? A neighbor's
llama died from a rattlesnake bite (prairie rattler).
