The subject of cross rhythms was discussed also on the list last
year on March 11-13 - for example the following post
from Daniel Wolf on March 12, 2001
Subject: Re: triplets (was Jazz quavers indication);

Other examples in the postings can be retrieved from the archives.
My reposting of this is prompted by Daniel Wolff's suggestion of the need
for
a webpage on the subject. If the subject is to become a topic of perennial
interest then we would be well served by such a page.
But until someone is inspired to accomplish such a heroic task these
references
from a posting from Folkert Kadyk on March 12, 2001 may be useful
>All of you may find Edwin E. Gordon's new book entitled Rhythm:
>Contrasting the Implications of Audiation and Notation, Chicago 2000 GIA
>Publications, Inc. (ISBN 1-57999-098-3) to be of interest. Also his
>Learning Sequences in Music (ISBN 1-57999-004-5)
Anyone who is seriously interested in the vocalisation of rhythmic figures
and unfamiliar with the highly evolved Solkattu tradition from India could
introduce themselves to the subject with some web searches.
For instance, try searching with Google using these search keys -
1) Solkattu
2) Karnatic Solkattu
3) Carnatic Solkattu
