Yes -- as I said above (perhaps I was unclear), that's exactly what I'm 
going to do.  I was just pointing out the irony of everyone asking me 
"How in tarnation do you expect the players to figure out which part to 
play in a 2:1 split on the first reading?" when a 3-way split (which 
apparently everyone does know how to do without further discussion) is 
fundamentally the same problem.  It shouldn't matter that you are 
splitting 2/3 + 1/3 in one case, and 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 in the other -- 
you are still splitting in *thirds*, which is what was alleged to be so 
difficult and confusing and all that.  However, in the interest of 
keeping things within the bounds of familiarity for the strings, I will 
make the Violin I and II parts identical, both "Div in 3."

Oh, and thanks everyone for the feedback -- I really had no idea that 
such a simple request would be so fraught with peril.
