That's odd, because when I don't change things, normal whole notes show up when I enter them. I just checked, and sure enough the behavior you are reporting is happening -- I think this must be a bug introduced in 2003!

Very curious!

I am going to send a bug report / question to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and see what they say!

But I didn't change the noteheads. The percussion map dialog displays two noteheads for each instrument: a closed notehead and an open notehead. By default, most instruments have the quarter note notehead as the closed notehead and the half note notehead as the open notehead. This means that the quarter note notehead is used (with the appropriate stem) for all quarters, eighths, sixteenths, etc. -- which is just fine. But it also means that the half note notehead is used with a stem for half notes and by itself for whole notes. This is not fine, as this notehead is smaller and shaded the other way from the usual whole note notehead.

The problem is that there seems to be no way of specifying separate noteheads for half notes and whole notes in percussion staves.

Aaron.
