As this thread has gotten way off from the original discussion of the Apple iTunes store, I thought a subject change was in order.

Yes, and my students bring me plenty of stuff to listen to, so thankfully, I don't have to wade through all the flotsam and jetsam to hear it. And there's a lot of interesting stuff. But I was more referring to the type of development where we have "Eleanor Rigby" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" existing on the same album, created by a group that started out doing Little Richard covers. Or an entire album like Pet Sounds from a group that originally had changed a Chuck Berry song into a surfing anthem. I don't hear any pop musicians stretching that far during their careers these days, nor do I see an industry that would allow it (which is really the point.)
