You see, it most definitely would need explanation, because I took such a numbering system to indicate only the main subdivisions of the beat, with all others being duple (i.e. a single beat would include 3 8th-notes, but only 6 16th-notes) while Dennis is taking the triple-subdivision all the way down (i.e. single beat would include 3 8th-notes, and 9 16th-notes grouped by 3, and I would guess 27 32nd-notes, grouped also by 3). Hopefully the beaming would be done clearly to reflect any subdivisions!

Definitely not a time signature usage to be handled lightly and with no explanation!

It sure would! I understand this to indicate that *all* sub-groups are
subdivided in three -- 3/3 is counted like 9/8 but with 16th triplets, 32nd
triplets, etc.
