I've figured out the problem. I have a Logitech MX500 mouse which has a
couple of extra buttons on it, which can be assigned to forward and back for
internet browsing (for which the key command is normally Alt+Left or right).
A while back I figured out that I could re-map these two buttons to other
keys in Finale using TGTools so that I can flick through pages using just
the mouse, which is considerably quicker (I effectively re-mapped Ctrl+PgDN
and PgUP to Alt+Left and Right). What must be happening is that sometimes
the Alt key isn't released as you suggested.

I think I'm just going to put up with it, and try and remember to hit the
Alt key when it happens, as I really appreciate being able to change pages
with the mouse, and it doesn't happen every time.

Thanks,

C.
