I am going to buy an iBook in the near future, and I wonder if the copy protection scheme has been improved in the 2004b revision.
If I reformat my hard disk to reinstall Panther, do I have to contact Coda to register again?
I don't know whether the protection scheme has been improved; my personal suspicion is that there will be another maintenance release (2k4 c), one of the features of which will be to remove, or at least make easily portable, the copy protection of 2k4, and that 2k5 will have the copy protection.
Meantime, twice within the past two months, I have two copies of Win 2k4 registered, one on my desktop machine, and one on my laptop. Twice within the past two months, do to circumstances beyond my understanding, if not beyond my control, I have had to reinstall the complete OS and applications on my desktop machine. On the basis of my experience, you do have to contact Coda for a new activation code, but getting the new install code was trivial in my case, requiring only a phone call to the phone support line (the machine I use for music activities is intentionally not connected to the internet.).

Is the copy protection based only in the Ethernet card address?
Can I easily transfer my registration to the portable?
Thanks for any help...
