Sorry -- never tried it with the built-in video so I can't help there. However, I do have a used Radeon that I haven't gotten around to eBaying yet, so if you're interested in going that route, let me know and I'll give you a good price on it. I'll even take it back if it doesn't solve your problem (although it works fine in my beige G3 desktop machine so it ought to do just as well for you).
