I use a MIDI interface with a USB connector and it works just fine.  In
fact, it is more reliable than the joystick/game port cable I used
previously.  The unit is by M-Audio (MIDIsport UNO).  A Google search should
lead you to a supplier.  It ran between $20 and $20.
